What you wear when handling pesticides matters.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) is an essential way to protect yourself when handling pesticides. In this seminar we will look at the various kinds of personal protective equipment (PPE), their differences, appropriate uses, and requirements based on the pesticide label and California law.
Applying pesticides with appropriate PPE like gloves, a mask, etc. are important to keep you and your employees safe — unlike the applicator here.
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand the importance personal protective equipment (PPE) plays in your health and safety.
2. Determine what PPE is necessary to wear based on California law and the pesticide label.
3. Understand risk, exposure, and toxicity as they relate to pesticides and pesticide safety.

Karey Windbiel-Rojas
Karey Windbiel-Rojas is the Associate Director for Urban and Community IPM and Area Urban IPM Advisor with the University of California Statewide Integrated Pest Management Program (UC IPM). Karey provides leadership and coordinates communication and collaboration to address pest issues around homes, structures, landscapes, gardens, schools, and public areas and works with various audiences who live in or serve these areas.
