Seminar Description:
Irrigation systems are typically programmed to apply more water than the plants require. This not only results in water waste ($) but can lead to unhealthy landscapes, plant loss, water runoff, erosion, hardscape damage, and unhappy customers.
The seminar will review the process of assessing and auditing irrigation systems, calculating precipitation rates, soil intake rates and moisture holding capacity, and system uniformity. This information is used to calculate station run times, cycle and soak times, and irrigation frequency. Smart Controllers can use the audit data to setup initial schedules and automate daily adjustments based on the weather and/or soil moisture. Proper irrigation scheduling results in lower water use and healthier landscapes.
Learning Objectives:
1. Assessing and auditing irrigation systems.
2. Calculating station run times, cycle and soak times, and irrigation frequency.
3. Utilizing Smart Controllers for irrigation scheduling and daily adjustments.
