Seminar Description:
SMP Environmental Design has been designing creative outdoor environments for nearly 60 Years. With coordination between the architect and interior designer, the landscape architect can develop opportunities to create a seamless transition between the indoor/outdoor spaces and create the illusion of space in yards where space is limited. By creating outdoor rooms, the perception of the home size increases, while adding lifestyle functions for the user.
The careful selection of materials, maximizing the amount of visibility & accessibility in and out and theming the exterior with the interior all work together to create a unified design. Three principles we incorporate into designing spaces are to understand the psychology of the space, the function and lifestyle of the space while creating a "wow" impression.
Learning Objectives:
1. Design Elements that Activate Outdoor Space and Create the Illusion of Space.
2. Materials and Amenities that Strengthen Indoor/Outdoor Relationships
3. Achieving a Seamless Transition from Indoor to Outdoor in Your Design
