In 1926, Andreas Stihl invented the world’s first electric chainsaw revolutionizing the forestry and tree care industries. Today’s equipment is a far cry from those early days, with numerous improvements made to increase power, reduce emissions, and improve safety. However, safe and efficient operation still depends on operator knowledge and training.
The Chainsaw Safety session prioritizes the secure and effective utilization of chainsaws, emphasizing the protection of individuals and the environment. Participants will acquire an understanding of chainsaw safety features, and operation principles, encompassing maintenance, fueling, and proper handling techniques. Essential safety protocols, personal protective equipment, and emergency procedures will also be addressed. Additionally, participants will develop skills in assessing risks, identifying potential hazards, and implementing preventive measures. They will also gain awareness of resources available for continued operational and safety training.

Learning Objectives:
1. Safety and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Participants will prioritize safety in chainsaw operation, focusing on the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and implementing safety precautions. This objective aims to instill a strong foundation for creating a safe working environment.
2. Chainsaw Operation, Reactive Forces, and Risk Management: Participants will understand fundamental chainsaw operation principles, including proper handling techniques, understanding and managing reactive forces, risk assessment, and hazard recognition. This objective ensures participants can confidently and safely operate chainsaws while managing potential risks.
3. Maintenance and Care: Participants will gain practical skills in chainsaw maintenance, covering tasks such as sharpening chains, checking lubrication systems, and understanding the parts of a chainsaw. This objective will contribute to the longevity and optimal performance of chainsaw equipment and related accessories.
