Greenworks opened a new support center in Valencia, California, in late 2024, to better back the commercial landscaping side of their business. This comes after the Spanish Springs, Nevada facility opened on March 1, 2024, as the West Coast distribution center. The Valencia location will be the backbone of training for service technicians, allow for hands-on support, and act as a hub of education. This facility will be customer-focused, geared towards providing assistance with the transition to battery-powered equipment. LCMP's associate publisher, Nathan Schmok, attended the grand opening event on December 10, and spoke with Yin Chen, CEO of Greenworks. Chen explained that the company opened their first center in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2005 and they now have sites across the U.S. including Morristown, Tennessee, and Morgantown, North Carolina, in addition to Nevada and the latest California site. Each location features a unique specialty. With the California facility having a strong focus on electric equipment conversion, the new site will offer education, onsite availability, and a unique specialization in battery-powered equipment including cutting-edge technology like Optimus models. Chen showed LCMP a new charging system called the Optimus Energy Cube which allows businesses to charge two zero-turn mowers while driving or 12 hand tools without mixing up the batteries. This technology was tested in a pilot program last year and was part of a 36-month-long development that now showcases over 85 commercial-grade products for professionals. The new technology alongside the facility will assist professionals in making a clean transition to new, exciting equipment. “As California leads the transition from gas to electric powered equipment, we are dedicated to continuously develop the Optimus technology, from ride-on mowers to handheld equipment, to meet and exceed the expectations of landscape professionals,” Chen explained. "We want the landscaper to enjoy the transition and not be pushed to change. The environment is a side effect, not the reason.” American Green Zone Alliance (AGZA) awarded one of the manufacturer's zero turn mowers an AGZA Field Tested Certification for their line of battery powered riding and stand-on mowers. |
