Webinar Description:
Presentation will provide participants with a clear overview and specific details on how to develop an art program, manage the selection process, understand the procedures of submitting maquettes, plan for the installation process and incorporate works of art in branding and marketing efforts.
It is essential for professionals to understand alternative selection processes and the importance of the collaborating with an artist. Understanding realistic budgetary scenarios and disbursements, legal requirements (copyrights, ownership of models), appropriate scale for a work of art, necessary lead times, securing engineering and insurance certificates and concerns for safety will enable Landscape Architects to present the preparation and acquisition process to their constituents in an informed and professional manner.
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand the philosophical and procedural process to organize and implement Public Art.
2. Appreciate the composition of the stake holders involved with the public art
process and the lead times associated with realizing a clients vision.
3. Grasp the importance of the collaborative process and identifying the appropriate scale for works of art.
4. Understanding the process of commissioning monumental works of art.
5. Importance of Collaborating with an Art Consultant and addressing the process early on.
6. Understanding realistic budgetary scenarios and disbursements, legal requirements (copyrights, ownership of models), appropriate scale for a work of art, etc.

Steven Boody
Steven Boody is co-founder and Principal of Public Art & Practice, LLC and Boody Fine Arts, Inc. Boody brings a unique collaboration to each project through his more than 44 years of experience, diverse education, and the merging of the art industry and design community.
Public Art & Practice began in 2004 as a vision of Boody Fine Arts, Inc.’s founders, Steven and Diane Boody. Since 1978, Boody Fine Arts has specialized in planning and managing corporate, public and private art collections. Over the years the company received an increasing number of inquiries from public officials and design professionals throughout the country requesting assistance in developing Public Art Programs and coordinating individual public art projects. In response to these needs, Steven and Diane formed a new company, Public Art & Practice, partnering with clients to develop, manage, and implement public art master plans and individual public art projects.
