Chipper safety and its use, ground men safety while working, including h-hats, eye protection, hearing protection, leg protection, proper chipper starting procedures, use of chainsaws and feeding brush into chipper.

2016-2014 - Tree Care: Planting, Pruning, Cabling & Bracing

Industry expert and certified arborist Jose Mercado will present a hands-on workshop demonstrating basic tree planting, along with the mastery of cabling and bracing. This course will teach the correct size of a planting hole, the use of fertilizer, root ball, whether to prune or not when planting, pruning for dead wood, water sprouts and reduction of wind sail effect, as well as crown cleaning, crown thinning, crown raising and crown reduction. Attendees will learn how to select the correct hardware and properly place hardware, how to prune before cabling, as well as many different cabling configurations and systems.

2016 – Equipment Safety

Industry expert Jose Mercado will teach attendees chainsaw, hedge trimmer and weed-eater safety, as well as proper use and basic maintenance. The course will also discuss the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE), hardhats, safety glasses and hearing protection. Lastly, attendees will learn the importance of appropriate work attire such as long pants, proper work boots and chaps.

2016-2015 – Tree Insect & Disease Diagnostic

Industry expert Jose Mercado will teach attendees basic tree insect & disease diagnosis including aphids, red spider mites, fire blight and anthracnose.

2013 - Biologia Básica del Árbol

En este curso ensenara a los asistentes los conceptos basicos de la biologia del arbol. Los asistentes tambien aprenderan siembra adecuada para un arbol joven. Tambien la forma de establecer y hacer crecer el arbol hasta la madurez.

2013 – Cuidado Básico para Árboles con Cableado y Aparatos

José Mercado, experto en la industria y certificado arbolista, presentará un taller práctico que demuestra la plantación básica de árboles, junto con el dominio del cableado y el arriostramiento. Este curso enseñará el tamaño correcto de un hoyo de plantación, el uso de fertilizante, bola de raíz, si se debe podar o no al plantar, poda de madera muerta, brotes de agua y reducción del efecto de vela de viento, así como limpieza de coronas, adelgazamiento de coronas, elevación de corona y reducción de corona. Los asistentes aprenderán cómo seleccionar el material correcto, colocar correctamente el material, cómo podar antes del cableado, así como muchas configuraciones y sistemas de cableado diferentes.
