Bryan Peck will discuss 4 techniques for prevention:
  1. Cultural
  2. Mechanical
  3. Biological
  4. Chemical
The session will discuss the history of DDT use and Rachel Carson's book "Silent Spring." Peck will attempt to clarify what exactly an IPM program is and how to utilize it at public agencies.

Bryan Peck

Parks Administrator

City of Santa Clarita

Bryan is a Parks Administrator with the City of Santa Clarita where he has worked for over 17 years. He began his career with Santa Clarita in 2002 as a Groundskeeper and spent over 9 years as a Parks Supervisor. In his role as Supervisor he led 6 full-time staff and multiple seasonal staff overseeing maintenance and operations of 9 park facilities including an 80 acre multi-use sport facility. In 2015, Bryan worked as a Project Development Coordinator working on park design and development before transitioning to the Capital Projects Division and working on raised median and road bridge projects. In 2018, Bryan was promoted to his current parks administrator position in charge of the care and maintenance of 34 city park sites and nearly 100 miles of trails and bike paths. He oversees 4 supervisors and 19 full-time employees. Bryan holds a QAC from the California DPR and is an active member in both the Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA) and the California Parks and Recreation Society (CPRS). Bryan has served on the board of Regents for the CPRS Maintenance Management School and was chair for the 2013 school. He continues to work with the school and was conferred the title of Regent Emeritus in 2017.
