"Sustainable Landscapes With or Without Native Plants" Live Webinar April 11th

Explore proper plant selection, soil preparation, and planting practices for the best landscape.

Webinar Description:
People think that if they use native plants that their landscapes are sustainable however a lot of these landscapes are not sustainable. With the use of a Permaculture rules and the Water Use Classification of Landscape Species website, we can get non-native showy plants to be grown sustainable. Growing native plants with these principals will be "Child's Play" to be grown sustainably. To benefit the ecology, the plant selections should attract butterflies, hummingbirds and bees. To attract high end residences the plant material will need to be showy with lots of color. Trouble shooting in the landscape tips will be revealed which is essential as the landscape will need to be planted correctly for a sustainable landscape to thrive.

Dane Shota
Dane S. Shota has been working with the nursery industry since he was 17 years old. His internship was done at the largest nursery in the world at the time called Monrovia Nursery Co. A lot of Dane's background is troubleshooting in the landscape as he worked at a major California Tree company for over 20 years. Since most of the problems usually dwell within the soil, his interests lie in promoting cutting-edge technology for healthy soil improvement abiding by the rules of Permaculture. He is now working with Landscape Architects in Southern California on their soil and planting specifications to improve the way we plant landscapes to achieve sustainability by getting plants healthy therefore needing no pesticides or very little.

Educational Experience: Cal Poly Pomona, Bachelor of Science, Horticulture Degree with a minor in business Licenses and Certifications: ISA Certified Arborist, Certified Water Auditor, Commercial Real Estate and Business Broker specializing in the green industry.

Membership: Southern California Horticultural Society, International Society of Arboriculture, and Ring 313 Magic Club (Magic tricks will be performed for Dane's students for in person classes)
